Project Runway Australia

Is anyone watching Australia's Project Runway?

What do you think and how does it compare to the US version? I think Kristy Hinze would make a great host. I have already missed half of it as we got back mid July. AAAArgh... We don't have Foxtel at home ( the kids would watch it non-stop! ) but it's times like this that I wished we had cable.

I'd like to hear your thoughts....please.

  1. You can watch some episodes on Youtube. It's a bit pixelated but it works if you want the fix. I watched the first episode and I liked it.

  2. I've been watching all of them while watching the new season of the US version. It's great! Just as good as the first US season but with better 'characters'.

  3. I was hoping it wouldn't be the poorer/try-hard cousin of the US one but it's been really good! There is definately an Aussie flavour none the less! Kristy is quite good but does come across as a bit of a Heidi clone ("in fashion, one day you're in, the next day you're out...").

  4. I like it but I am a sucker for these kinds of shows. I think Kristy is fairly good, but it's a formulaic kind of show, so is very similar to the US version. I think they've picked an interesting bunch of designers/ characters but I thought the "dress the WAGS for the Brownlow" challenge this week was a bit lame.

  5. I'm loving it! If you want to catch up on the earlier episodes I have the YouTube links on my blog.

Love your blog btw. Long time reader. :)

  6. I've been following it on you tube too and think it's excellent. Very reminiscent of US season 1 I think.

  7. Another one here watching on Youtube! Actually I am watching both the Aussie and US versions - sometimes I get a bit confused as to which designer is on which show...lol

  8. You can watch full length episodes on 3 mobile for free. Any family or friends who are with 3?

  9. I love Project runway, I loved the US version and am currently watching the Aussie version, I disagree with two of the "Your Outs" so far this season.. There is way too much swearing on the show, it reflects badly on us Aussies. I love it and it has inspired me to get my mannequin out of the corner and go crazy!!!

  10. Colette - I've been watching the Australian PR and finding it very good. The US PR Season 5 is also now on and tends to come up on YouTube on Fridays if you're looking. I think the Aussie version is as good as, if not better. I've become so hooked I've watched the US back seasons and also Project Catwalk UK which I really loved. They're also up on YOuTube. They all follow a similar theme and there is certainly some favouritism going on IMO.

  11. Disappointing. I think it's a lame imitation. It's like the judges are trying to act like they think the US judges act, and it comes off as contrived. They are not as witty or well dressed.
The US version seems very real unlike most "reality" shows, but the Australian version seems fake and fixed, and honestly the judges don't have very good taste (hence the fixed assumption).
The contestants are inexperienced and sub-par (one has never worked with any kind of knit fabric!)
