Great, easy (read: no pattern required) inverted pleated skirt in Tessuti's 100% Wool - Black/Jaffa Woven Spot made by Beattie....who also happens to make these fabulous pom pom necklaces ( image below ).
what's new in store, fashion trends, pattern reviews, Tessuti creations, sewing tips and techniques.
If it's made with no pattern then, um... how do you make it? I've been wanting to make a skirt like that with some beautiful stripe/ gingham Trelise Cooper fabric mah mama bought me.
ReplyDeleteIs it just a long pleated rectangle attached to a waistband?
Hi Lupinbunny,
ReplyDeleteCut out two rectangles - the desired width at the bottom hem plus side seam allowances (measure the finished hem width of a skirt in the stores that you like the fit of).Keep a tape measure handy in your bag at all times!
Then invert the centre pleats and add two knife pleats either side of that - when finished , should fit to your waistband. Add a side zipper and sew on your waistband - which you will cut to your waist measurement plus overlap and seam allowance.
Add a 1.5 inch hem to the bottom of your skirt....and there you have a easy skirt.
cheers
