A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Tanya. After using my gentle powers of persuasion in convincing her to model for me, I am happy to present this post to show just what can be achieved with some basic sewing know-how, a love of fabric and design, and knowing what you want in a garment. Tanya's wonderful caftan dress is made from this Tessuti silk/cotton blend fabric which has a gorgeous, soft, drapey quality that works perfectly in this easy style garment. Not bad for a novice sewer who drafted the pattern herself, tracing off a rectangular caftan top that she has in her wardrobe!
