Spotted Imazu Kasia

Here is my latest finished project, this time Burdastyle's pattern Kasia skirt made up in our Japanese cotton Imazu Spotted Night. The pattern is fabulous and quick to sew - with very clear instructions. I've made this up for a friends daughter who's been wanting a high waisted skirt. I made no alterations to the pattern except cutting out the 38 for the bottom half of the pattern and the 36 for the top, as the pattern measures very snug at the hip.
I really love the button and gathered yoke detailing on this skirt. The only decision now is long or short for the length...what do you think?

  1. I attempted to make this skirt and I'm afraid it was a total disaster - much too big and I lost the heart to adjust. So it's wonderful to see it looking such a success, and I love it in that fabric.

  2. I say long - it creates a really nice elegant line - super sweet dots btw! Vicki

  3. Lovely, really cute fabric and great fit. I've got this on the 'to do' list, good idea to cut the different sizes. I can't decide between long and short! I think the long length would be great with heels or wedges, and the short looks lovely with flats - decisions decisions!

  4. Definitely short, just to confuse things. :)

  5. A lovely skirt - so fresh and interesting - I like the long because the fabric is delightful - if it was a plain fabric - maybe keep it short - as the legs are delightful!!

  9. Depends how old said daughter is, in my opinion the shorter length is more youthful and appropriate for casual attire (which matches the playfulness of the polka dots too). But the longer length would work well if the garment is more likely to be worn in an office or she is a lady as apposed to a girl (i.e closer to 25 than 15)

  11. WOW what a knock out! Love it!
The pattern looks like a whole lotta fun, must get my hands on a copy and the fabric is such a stand out!
great job oh and definately short if your going to wear it with flats, but leave it long if your wearing with heels xxx

  12. I like it long, and think you could wear flats or heels with the longer length. I don't think her age really matters - she's got a great figure, and can pull off the longer length just as well as the shorter.

  13. Collette - that is fantastic! This really is the nicest skirt I have seen in a long time. I like it short on this young girl - makes it more 'everyday', but like the long skirt for heels too. I have ignored the Kasia pattern for so long - but that is an awesome piece - well done!

  16. I love the longer length but I am 30 so I am guessing your daughters friend would like shorter. A lovely skirt!

  17. Wow - a lovely piece, and great choice of fabric and buttons. I read all the comments about length, but aside from thequestions of age and shoes to me the longer length emphasises the vertical line of the front button feature much more so to me it's the clear winner.

  21. I'm not a prude, but the longer length works better with this skirt's proportions.

  22. absolutely love love love ♥ this skirt! but i like it short better - but that's cos i got short legs :p

  23. I think the short length works better proportion-wise... as the waist is elongated. I like it long from the front, but not from the back. So my vote is for short. ...and speaking of short, this would look fabulous as a pair of shorts!!
