Pattern Review - Cap Sleeve Shift Dress in Overview New York Ponti Knit

Ponti knits are so hot right now, a thick double knit with just the right amount of stretch (but not too much) and weight not to cling. This wonderful knit is also ideal for patterns usually suitable for wovens, and works particularly well in dresses, slim/circular skirts, jackets, pants and jeans (yes jeans!) etc.

Lenka's been a very busy bee, preparing her travelling wardrobe for her trip back home to Slovakia for her sister's upcoming wedding!  Lenka wore into work one of her latest creations, a lovely shift dress with boat neck and cap sleeves made up in our Italian digitally ponti knit Overview New York (sold out) and Burdastyle pattern #130 from magazine issue 1/2010. Lenka says she graded the pattern down two sizes from the smallest 36 as the pattern was too wide for her and eliminated the centre back seam and zipper (this one pulls easily over the head due to the wide neckline and the ponti stretch) as well as self lining the capped sleeves.

A stylish travel dress and perfect marriage of fabric and pattern don't you think?
