2012 Tessuti Sydney Christmas Dinner @ A Tavola

This year, we celebrated Christmas and the end of a busy year with our wonderful Sydney crew at A Tavola in Darlinghurst. A fabulous night! See more photos of the night and as well as some gorgeous Tessuti creations on our Tessuti Flickr page.

Instead of the customary frock, this year I opted for a lace top and shorts. I made this lovely French citrus/black corded lace (still available at Tessuti Surry Hills) top using the Gabby Dress pattern. I made a size smaller than my usual small and when shortening the length for the top, I wanted to keep the flare at the hem so had to reattach the scalloped edge of the lace at the hem and cap sleeves by french seaming the scalloping around the edges (as done here). The scalloped edge around the neckline was attached together with a black silk habutai I used to line the body.

I used a drapey black silk faille (available at all stores) for these fun flared shorts. The design was modified from the Chloe Pant pattern. After shortening to the desired length, I then added more flare to the hemline (by converting the dart to hemline flare). The back dart was bigger so it added the perfect amount of flare to the hemline, but the front dart was smaller so I had to pivot in more flare to the front to balance the back. At the waistline, instead of a facing, I added a narrow binding instead. I LOVE them, they're so breezey and comfy!
