I am very excited about finishing my first crochet hat for my gorgeous girl. It reminds me of the crochet hats that stunning Ali McGraw wore in the 70s. Of course my daughter doesn't know who she is ( some of you might not either! ) - so I've included a picture of her too!!! I'll have to hire 'Love Story' and watch it with Gabby one of these days. She loves a tear jerker like her Mamma.
This lovely crochet pattern comes from the 'Learn to Crochet' guidebook by Patons -which has 20 easy projects for those new to crochet. The pattern is #7 Jet Beanie In Treble. I found this pattern very easy to do - I finished it in 2 nights. Very satisfying and great for Gabby to see that I do finish some of my ( many) projects!!!
I used Patons 'Jet' - 70% Wool 30% Alpaca in shade 104 - which I bought from Tapestry Craft - down the road from our Tessuti City stores. I love the cosy knitting section on the lower level ( needlework/tapestry section is on ground level) and they have the most wonderful selections of yarns, books and accessories.
I have only just taken up crochet and I have almost finished this fun granny square blanket for a friends baby.... I got the inspiration from this gorgeous crochet blanket on Flickr.... it started this renewed love for crochet knitting.
