My version of Vogue 1153





I was quick to try out Vogue 1153 after falling in love with Suzie's dress! I made up my version in 100% cotton Liberty Tana Lawn Willow Tree Indigo, which I had been saving for just the right project.

I made some alterations to the pattern to suit my body shape. Firstly omitting the gathered waist, instead I added the middle tier panel to the bottom of the top pattern and taking it in a bit at the bottom sides. The top half of the dress is lined with a silk/cotton voile. Then I lengthened the bottom tier panel and gathered this to the top half of dress... always a sucker for a drop waisted dress! The bottom panel has a 2.5 inch hem and I made a self fabric tie belt to gather the dress in at the hips.

It's a great pattern, in particular the cut away armholes and gathered neckline details. I'll definitely have to try this pattern as a top next.

    This looks lovely on you. I particularly like the neckline and armholes. Definitely worth giving it a go as a top. I'm really enjoying seeing all the wonderful summer dresses everyone's making at the moment - hold off Autumn.

    Every time I see this made up with a bunch of alterations it looks so much better than the original pattern. Good job! Love the fabric, too.

    It is beautiful..and you could probably turn it into a tank top of sorts if you didn't want a dress. I could see this in a gauzy white lawn (lined) with some red trim.
