Anita Ponti Pant Pattern - now available!

We gave you a sneak preview of this last week and we're pleased to announce that our newest pattern - the Anita Ponti Pant - is now available!

This slim pant pattern is suitable for all ages and looks great made up in plain or printed ponti knits. It is also suitable for firm cotton and wool knits. The pant features an elasticized waist and a finished wide hem. Super comfortable as well as being quick and easy to sew, this garment is a perfect trans-seasonal addition to your wardrobe. Not suitable for woven or non-stretch fabrics.

Not so much because it's Easter (but timely, no?) and more so because I do love me a bunny or five, I made this pair on the weekend in our Peter Rabbit Green (also available in blue). I did make what turned out to be a mildly successful attempt at pattern-matching but that kinda thing can do my head in at the best of times so I was happy enough to succeed in placing these little white bunnies around my ankles on both back and front.

For a strictly limited time the pattern is available in a hardcopy version or, if you prefer, a print-at-home/copy shop version is also available. We have an awesome range of printed and plain ponti knits available at the moment so be sure to check our online and (even bigger) in-store range.

Hop to it (sorry).

  3. Can I use stretch denim? I don't think ponti knit is available here ...

  4. Hi Melanie,

Ponti knit is available at most quality fabric stores. Where are you located?

You can find it online on our store or other fabric stores online.

Not sure how a stretch denim would go, it depends on how much stretch the denim has and how thick it is. This pattern is best suited and was made for knitted fabrics like ponti in particular.

  6. Love these! Have just purchased the fabric and pattern from the lovely ladies at Surrey Hills. Just a quick question before I excitably snip away at the fabric - any top tips for fabric pattern matching? Did you halve the fabric in half (lined up) and then cut, so you got both Left and Right at once? Or did you cut each individually. Sorry I may totally be over thinking this and I don't need it to be perfect but I'd like it to be close!!!
    Thanks

    1. Hi Melanie
Google "sewing tips pattern matching" and you'll find a heap of blogs/sites that can give you better advice than I ever could - I tend to be a bit slapdash! I cut out my pieces in pairs but took greater care when placing and (especially) pinning my pattern pieces. I use my pins as a guide to make sure I'm pinning at exactly the right point on either side. You'll note I didn't have much success in matching my side seams, but I got the fronts and backs sorted. Good luck!
