Pattern Review - Vogue 1036

Julie popped in to see us again recently to show us her latest make, a great unlined denim look jacket. Made up in Vogue 1036 and our Marceau Licorice, a blended Cantiva Hemp and PET (made from recycled plastic bottles) woven drill (available at Tessuti Surry Hills).

Julie modified the Sandra Betzina jacket pattern by eliminating the fussy sleeve detail and using a two piece sleeve (with cuffs) from another pattern. She also straightened off the curve (at the hip) on the lower band. The pattern suggests fastening the jacket with snap closures however Julie preferred to add metal military style buttons and had professional keyhole buttonholes sewn by Quick Buttonhole Service in Botany.

I'll bet this jacket gets lots of wear.
