Say hello to our first pattern of 2017 - the Iris Dress! This flattering style incorporates an a-line
shaped lantern skirt with side pockets that feature an upper topstitching detail.
The pattern includes options for both v-neck, sleeveless (Version A - above) and sleeved with round-neck (Version B - below), but you can easily transfer the round neckline to the sleeveless bodice or vice versa.
We've also added this exposed binding between the skirt panels to give the design a little extra oomph!
With no closures, the Iris Dress is supremely comfortable and slips on easily over the head. It also looks super stylish when sewn up in two tones, like this one below...

I find the long length makes me look dumpy, so would it look ok without the extra panel on bottom or would line be compromised?
ReplyDeleteHi Bronwyn,
DeleteYou can easily take out some of the length from the skirt panel (as indicated on the pattern piece) to shorten the dress for your preferred, without compromising the line of the dress.
Looks comfy relaxed fit for hot weather.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see in a floral/ patterned print
Thanks Anonymous :) it would look great in a print!
DeleteLove that stand up collar. And of course your fabric choices are divine - perfect for our crazy hot weather right now!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristy. Nothing like a comfortable linen dress in 30+ degree heat!
DeleteThanks Colette, looks a great style for summer! Need to get organise Do!
ReplyDeleteHi Great pattern. I prefer longer sleeves so was wondering whether I could use the sleeves from the Lily pattern with this one? Cheers Jane
ReplyDeleteThanks Jane,
DeleteYou can easily extend the sleeve length on this pattern. Don't forget the Lily Linen Dress sleeves are for a cut-away armhole, so need a different armhole. Much easier to extend the Iris Dress sleeves.
This looks particularly lovely in the colour blocked version.
ReplyDeleteI bought a linen dress in Tuscany exactly the same as the round neck on sleeveless dress, but shorter. It is a great dress to wear and I love that I can now make it myself here in Oz!!! Thank you!
